Saving the United States from destruction isn't enough for Fox drama "24". The action series is now out to save the planet. As it returns for Jack Bauer's eighth horrendous day, star Kiefer Sutherland describes its carbon-neutral endeavor.

Last year, "24" made several improvements, says Ecorazzi, a green gossip website. Besides switching from incandescent to compact fluorescent lighting and turning off all electrical equipment when not in use, the show used biodiesel to power generators and vehicles. It also used renewable power (wind, hydroelectric and solar) when buying electricity, added hybrid vehicles to its fleet and distributed scripts, schedules and other memos electronically.
