The UK diesel specification will include a new limit for filter blocking tendency from November following a series of car engine breakdowns in northern England and Scotland in the past two winters, market sources said Wednesday. Previously, the FBT limit was voluntary for UK refiners and importers. From November, all diesel produced, imported and sold in the UK will need to respect an FBT limit of 2.52, according to a draft from the British Standards Institution seen by Platts.
